State of the Union Address Emphasizes Serious Climate Change Threat, Need for Clean Energy
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Following is a statement by Abigail Ross Hopper, president and CEO of the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), on President Biden’s State of the Union address: “President Biden rightly emphasized the threat of climate change and the need to rapidly deploy clean energy in tonight’s State of the Union address. Domestic Solar Manufacturing
In parallel with SEIA’s goal of solar comprising 30% of the U.S. electricity mix by 2030, we have also set a target of 100 GW of renewable energy manufacturing capacity, including 50 GW of solar manufacturing production, by 2030. There are multiple benefits to growing domestic renewable energy manufacturing, including creating jobs, spurring economic development, promoting U.S.
Build Back Better: The Solution to Solar Supply Chain Problems and Price Increases
Supply chains are backlogged and prices have increased for raw materials and consumer goods across the economy. The clean energy sector is no different, and has been feeling the supply pinch for most of 2021. This has put years-long price declines in reverse in a matter of months. However, there is a solution that will offset price increases and unleash a new era of American clean energy leadership: The Build Back Better Act.
